Our beginner team came together in 2020 and performed for the first time in 2021.
Skaters in this category have no age restrictions, but generally the team is under 18.
Team History
Although attempts to set up the team were made a number of years ago, everything came together in early 2020, only to be scuppered by the first of numerous lockdowns in March 2020 and the closure of Hull Arena for 18 months of refurbishments.
The fledgling team showed true dedication though, continuing to meet on zoom during lockdowns and taking to the ice again as restrictions were relaxed in 2021. Whilst waiting for Hull Arena to re-open, the team trained on the small ice pad in Grimsby, and only had a handful of sessions on full ice.
Festival of the Sea
The team’s first performance of their ‘festival of the sea’ program took place on the day the Hull Arena re-opened following an 18 month refurbishment. A few weeks later, the team competed for the first time at Skate London 2021, held at Alexandra Palace where the team took a solid 4th place.
